The C-LARs Spray Rig
is a unique cable lubrication application that does not require spooling. Instead of injecting grease through a lubricator body as the umbilical passes through it, the spray rig allows the user to spray the umbilical with two types of migrating lubricants, C-Myst & C-HD. C-Myst, which meets the mil spec MIL-PRF-81309F, spreads until it reaches a minimum thickness of .0003″. C-HD is a thicker version of the same product and is designed to withstand a 2,000-hour salt-spray test (ASTMB-117).
This application is a cost effective and ideal method of umbilical lubrication for long term storage between mobilizations. An application of 1-2 gallons of C-Myst sealed with 1 gallon of C-HD will provide protection for approximately 12 months.
